They picked 7 rows on the very top of the Apricot hill block. Baren soil with broken ancient slate where the grapes struggle to grow past a “petite” size. There is a density to these grapes, almost black in appearance, in their taste and structure too. This will not be made every year, only in exceptional vintages. Dry grown, the vineyard producing an extremely low yield of small berried, thick skinned fruit typically measured in kilograms rather than tonnes per acre. The nose is beautifully perfumed with cherry\/currant notes. The particular character of the site adds a distinctive flint\/mineral and kitchen spice line through the finely structured palate of intense black fruits wrapped around elegant, long lines of tannin.
