There are blackberry fruits at its core but also a glaze of red-fruited goodness that lift things up nicely. It's fresh in its line, with chewy, fine-grained tannins, abundant spice, gentle dried herbs, vanillin oak, roasted meats, sage and fruitcake. - 96 points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
The vines were planted in the 1912 on red clay mixed with alluvial loam. We find that the loam gives the wine freshness in the guise of vibrancy and floral notes. Our old Cabernet Sauvignon clone is more akin to its parent, Cabernet Franc. This shows up as violets and blueberries in the wine.
